Narva Boxing Club would like to invite female boxers to the 5th Maj Box Cup. The two-day tournament will take place in Stockholm the 30/4-1/5 2005 and female boxers from all over Europe are welcome to participate.
The first Maj Box Cup was organised in 2001. Approximately 30 Swedish female boxers participated in the first tournament which took place in Narva Boxing Club's gym. The number of participants grew the following year and there were 46 girls registered in 2002. It became clear that the tournament was too big to be held in the gym so it was decided to use a bigger venue in 2003. It was also that year the tournament became international when female boxers from Finland participated as well. In 2004, the number of participants increased again and 54 girls registered for the competition. Except female boxers from Sweden and Finland, also Norwegian and German girls participated and it was clear that the competition was starting to become truly international. There’s a short film from last year's Maj Box Cup available on this link: http://news.narva.com/artikel.asp?id=-331480621 (click the link “klicka här om du har…..”. However, you need Windows mediaplayer software to view it). The are also some pictures and results from last year's finals on this link: http://www2.boxopen.nu/artikel.asp?id=-692904045
Hopefully, the tournament will continue to grow and we would welcome even more competitors in 2005! The tournament have different divisions for cadets/juniors/seniors and novices/experienced so almost every female boxer could participate regardless of experience. Please contact us if you wish to participate in the tournament or if you have questions.
Welcome to Maj Box Cup 2005!
Best wishes Narva Boxing Club
